Uyar Research Group at:

Dr. Uyar obtained his PhD degree from North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC, USA), College of Textiles, Fiber & Polymer Science in September 2005. Currently, Dr. Uyar is an Associate Professor at Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design
College of Human Ecology, Cornell University. Previously, Dr. Uyar was appointed as an Associate Professor at Institute of Materials Science & Nanotechnology (UNAM) of Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) from 2014-2018 and Assistant Professor from 2009-2014. Previously, Dr. Uyar was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University (Denmark) (2007-2008). He carried out his postdoctoral studies at iNANO (2006-2007) and Macromolecular Sci. & Eng., Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH, USA) (2005-2006). Dr. Uyar has also worked as a PhD summer intern (summer of 2002, 2003 and 2004) at BabyCare R&D at Procter & Gamble (P&G) Company (Cincinnati, OH, USA) where he gained industrial research experience. He has completed two MS programs; Materials Sci & Eng at University of Cincinnati (OH, USA) (2002) and Chemistry at Middle East Technical Univ (METU) (2000), Turkey. He received his BS degrees in Chemistry Education double major with Chemistry at METU (1998) with honors.

Prof. Uyar is leading Functional Nanofibers Laboratory at Department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design, College of Human Ecology, Cornell University. 

Uyar Research Group have a main research interest in Electrospinning of Nanofibers and Nanomaterials with novel functionalities for potential applications in NanoTextiles (protective textiles, medical textiles, multi-functional textile materials), Environmental/Filtration (molecular filters, water purification, waste treatment, heavy metals removal, air filtration, VOCs removal), Healthcare(controlled/sustained drug release systems, wound dressing, nanobiotechnology), Food and Food Packaging (delivery and stabilization of food additives; essential oils, antioxidants, antibacterials, nanofood), Catalysis (photocatalysis for water treatment, flexible nanofibrous heterogeneous catalysts systems), Sensors (heavy metal sensors, explosive sensors, biosensors), Energy (water splitting, solar cells, etc),  NanoAgriculture (nanofertilizer, seed/plant protection, controlled delivery of pesticides).

Prof. Uyar is very active in the field of "Electrospinning of Nanofiber" and his contribution on the development of functional electrospun nanofibers is outstanding by publishing numerous papers (+150  papers) in high impact journals in this field. (Google Scholar:
