Biography
Armin Mostafavi is a Postdoctoral Associate and Lab Manager at the Design and Augmented Intelligence Lab (DAIL) in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University. His interdisciplinary research lies at the intersection of behavioral sciences, neuroscience, and environmental psychology, with a strong emphasis on human-building interaction and computational modeling. Dr. Mostafavi investigates how the design of physical and virtual environments affects human behavior, cognition, and well-being, applying immersive technologies such as VR/AR, and leveraging EEG, eye tracking, and other physiological tools.
Since 2019, he has worked on NIH-, NSF-, and NIDILRR-funded research projects led by DAIL investigators, contributing to studies that advance the understanding of human experience in the built environment. These projects span healthcare design, workplace performance, and aging in place, and include the development of a VR testing platform for evaluating wayfinding, immersive training tools to support spatial learning, and a virtual social-cognitive intervention for older adults with mild cognitive impairment.
