Leighton Beaman’s Design Nonprofit named Design Practice of the Year

Associate Professor of Practice Leighton Beaman’s non-profit design office General Architecture Collaborative (GAC) was named the small design practice of the year for the Northeast by the Architects Newspaper. Jury member Kim Yao commented of the work of GAC, “This non-profit design organization reinvents traditional notions of practice, enabling work that marries direct community engagement with design excellence and impact. Their projects combine research and technological innovation with local building craft and materials, grounding the work in the place and community that it serves
