Human Development undergraduate Daniel Rosenfeld ’18 recently published a paper in the research journal Appetite with faculty advisor Anthony Burrow, Assistant Professor of Human Development, which is the first of its kind to apply psychological theories of social identity to vegetarianism in an extensive manner.

“In recent years, a significant body of psychological research on vegetarianism has emerged, as plant-based diets are becoming increasingly prevalent,” says
Rosenfeld. “Ultimately, we argue that vegetarianism is nota diet but rather a self-perception – a way of understanding oneself.”
