At Cornell Human Ecology, we explore the complexity of human life and prepare students to develop solutions that move humanity forward.
We examine human health in relationship with the larger world we live in, exploring the interactions between people and their environments and analyzing human dimensions of the social and natural sciences, design and the built environment, nutrition and health, and development throughout the life course.
Our majors emphasize interdisciplinary thinking, applying knowledge to developing research-based solutions and working in partnership with communities. You can explore varied academic interests without needing to choose among them and prepare for success in any career.
You can conduct research alongside faculty — 70% of CHE undergrads participate in research, more than any other college at Cornell — and partner with experts and community members to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world challenges.
CHE is home to roughly 1,050 undergraduates, 200 graduate students and 140 faculty members across three departments. Our students enjoy the resources of an Ivy League research university and the advantages of a smaller school, building close relationships with classmates and faculty.
