Biography
Dr. Yarden Golan earned a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science from Tel-Hai College (Kiryat Shmona, Israel) and a Ph.D. from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel). Her doctoral research focused on understanding the zinc transport mechanism into human milk via the zinc transporter ZnT2, as well as the effects of genetic variations on the structure and function of this transporter.
For her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Dr. Golan was awarded prestigious funding, including the ISRHML–Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Trainee Expansion Program and the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP). Her postdoctoral research aimed to characterize the human milk transcriptome under both physiological conditions (e.g., colostrum, mature milk, and involution) and pathological conditions (e.g., low milk production, infection). Additionally, she is investigating the relationship between milk composition and infant growth using samples collected from diverse populations in the USA, Uganda, and Guinea-Bissau.
Dr. Golan has been awarded the NIH K99/R00 Career Development Award and will continue her research as a research associate at the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. Her ongoing work will focus on human milk production and composition, and their association with infant growth and health outcomes.
