After graduation Quinn Guthrie ’22 will begin her career in design as a production and design associate at Pleiades Designs in Boulder, Colorado.

Guthrie, who is from Media, Pennsylvania, is a fashion design management major with a concentration in product development. She received the Excellent Student Award for Fiber Science & Apparel Design every year from 2019-2022 and made the dean’s list several semesters. Guthrie also received a Human Ecology Summer Research Grant in 2020.

Guthrie said Professor Huiju Park was a mentor, guiding her toward her career path. Park helped with Guthrie’s summer research project in 2020, and Park’s Activewear Design and Product Development course was her favorite class.

“He has been a mentor to me throughout my college experience and has helped me pursue my dreams,” Guthrie said about Park. “I’ve always looked up to him because of his experience in activewear, his current research and his dedication to helping students achieve greatness.”

Guthrie said she will miss having access to the resources available to Cornell students, including the design studios, 3D printers, laser cutters and ultrasonic bonding machines.

“Cornell has a lot of unique resources that helped me create anything I wanted and come up with inventive ideas,” Guthrie said. “I never felt limited to designing just for my classes or the Cornell Fashion Collective. I could truly make whatever I wanted in order to best enhance my design knowledge.”
