00:00 my name is Mariya Thompson I'm the 00:02 director of executive education for the 00:04 Sloan Program in Health Administration 00:05 and together with the team at Sloan and 00:08 eCornell I've been working on putting 00:11 together and implementing the executive 00:14 MHA program there are a number of ways 00:17 in which this program is allowing 00:20 Cornell University to educate more 00:22 healthcare leaders Cornell can be a 00:26 remote place there are only so many 00:27 people that can access Ithaca and 00:30 especially for mid-career or senior 00:33 level professionals people are in a 00:35 place in their lives where they can't 00:36 leave their family or their job or their 00:39 children for two years to pursue a Masters 00:42 of Health Administration the executive 00:45 MHA program is an 18-month 37 credit 00:48 program and it's designed for working 00:52 professionals with at least five years 00:53 of experience our students come from all 00:57 sub sectors of healthcare some come from 01:00 the provider space others come from the 01:02 payer space there are folks from biotech 01:05 Pharma medical device there are 01:07 healthcare consultants people who work 01:09 in healthcare IT people who work in 01:12 government people who do clinical trial 01:14 research because of this wide range of 01:16 experience our students will learn just 01:19 as much if not more from each other as 01:21 they will from the faculty our faculty 01:24 are extremely enthusiastic and they get 01:27 that energy from the students the 01:29 students are very eager to learn and are 01:32 very eager to apply exactly what they're 01:35 doing at work and that energy is 01:38 infectious they tell me that the rigor 01:40 of the curriculum has forced them to put 01:43 together study groups where they're in 01:45 virtual study groups online they've seen 01:47 each other in their pajamas they know 01:49 each other's children so really this is 01:52 a way to expand access to this kind of 01:55 health care leadership education
