[music] 0:00:05.750,0:00:11.309 we have an amazing department here. what's a really close-knit group. we have 0:00:11.309,0:00:17.330 a range of classes from design to fiber science to structural fabric design, 0:00:17.330,0:00:23.910 draping, construction, pattern making. you also get a background in photoshop and 0:00:23.910,0:00:29.849 illustrator which are important in your portfolio work. if you have an idea for a 0:00:29.849,0:00:32.790 project you like to do you can just approach a professor and explain your 0:00:32.790,0:00:38.010 idea and do an independent study. I use the shibori technique which is a 0:00:38.010,0:00:41.309 Japanese resist technique to create these really interesting colorful 0:00:41.309,0:00:47.309 patterns on tights and I decided to market the line and I'm working on that 0:00:47.309,0:00:55.500 right now. I had never really designed a plaid before. it was interesting to 0:00:55.500,0:00:59.600 research Tartans and then go through the design process from start to finish 0:00:59.600,0:01:04.739 meeting with the president of Pendleton and showing him my work. he was really 0:01:04.739,0:01:08.100 excited about it so that was really cool really rewarding and then to actually 0:01:08.100,0:01:14.490 see it produced it's just amazing. I think CGL is my favorite part about 0:01:14.490,0:01:19.350 being here. I loved the show when I was in high school and when I saw it, I was 0:01:19.350,0:01:23.310 like this is so cool i can't wait to do that. I can't wait to be a senior and 0:01:23.310,0:01:27.310 have my own line. At Cornell you have so many 0:01:27.310,0:01:32.820 opportunities. I really i think really enrich the experience here
