As Director of Technical Assistance and Training for the ACT for Youth project I coordinate a team of trainers to provide technical assistance and training to all adolescent pregnancy, STI and HIV prevention providers funded by the NYS Department of Health. In 2014 we have been working with 58 pregnancy prevention providers plus 17 youth development programs across New York State. Technical assistance covers topics such as youth development, evidence-based programming in adolescent sexual health and community assessments and linking to a wide range of community partners. My responsibilities involve the development of new training materials, implementation of regional workshops and coordination with other training providers in NYS such as the NYS Association of Youth Bureaus, Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H and national networks such as Healthy Teen Teen Network, Advocates for Youth, ETR, Answer at Rutgers University and Select Media. In addition, I aim to stay up-to-date on research and training in positive youth development, adolescent sexual health and implementation science to inform the ACT for Youth Center and community-based prevention providers via list serve, web site postings and frequent webinars.
In 2015 I co-facilitated and organized the fifth Annual Youth Development Research Update, a two day event that brought together researchers and practitioners.
In efforts to promote youth development statewide and nationally, I regulary present at state and national conferences. Since 2007 I am member of the NYS Youth Development Team, a coalition of state departments and large non-for-profits. Continuing a strong partnership with the NYS Office of Mental Health, for which I developed a training curriculum and provided multiple trainings over the past years, I entered a new curriculum development project in 2014.
In an effort to continue providing professional development to youth workers I developed and piloted a new youth development curriculum (Smith Lever funding) in partnership with the NYS 4-H State Office. In 2015 I started a new 3-year training project, creating an online training course based on the youth development curriculum.

I offer workshops and presentations of youth development issues and develop new materials and resources to increase community and program capacity for youth development.
Since 2009 my responsibilities have included building capacity for evidence-based programming in adolescent sexual health while still maintaining a focus on positive youth development with youth service providers.
Organized in collaboration with Steve Hamilton the 5th Annual Youth Development Research Update in June 2015. Under the theme of bridging research and practice, 50 practitioners from CCE and youth services attended 4 research presentations and discussed ways to apply research findings to service delivery.
I co-chair the Program Work Team: Risk and Thriving in Adolescence. The PWT develops tools and resources for Extension eduactors and other youth work professionals. In 2015 we promoted the positive youth development curriculum and started drafting a new project: development of a resource guide for digital citizenship and communication etiquette.
