John Cawley and Don Kenkel are professors in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell, and are Research Associates of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Their research focuses on the economics of health behaviors, such as cigarette smoking (Kenkel and Cawley), drinking alcohol (Kenkel), and the diet and physical activity patterns that contribute to obesity (Cawley). The courses they teach include a graduate and undergraduate course sequences in health economics and health behaviors. They direct the Institute with the objective of supporting and strengthening the intellectual community at Cornell studying health economics, in particular the economics of health behaviors.
