The Zhong Lab is in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. Our lab aims to advance our understanding of the etiology, progression, and management of cardiometabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Our research targets modifiable lifestyle factors, particularly nutrients, foods, and dietary patterns. Our research spans a variety of disciplines including nutrition, epidemiology, metabolomics, nuclear genomics, and mitochondrial genomics. Conducting nutrition research can make a huge impact. Globally, dietary risks are responsible for ~20-25% of all deaths in adults. Cardiovascular disease is the first cause of diet-related deaths and diabetes is the third (GBD 2017 Diet Collaborators. Lancet. 2019;393(10184):1958-1972).
