Roger Figueroa

Roger Figueroa, PhD, MPH, MSc is a Provost New Faculty Fellow (2019-2020) and Assistant Professor (effective 7/1/20) in Social and Behavioral Science in Nutrition in the Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS), College of Human Ecology at Cornell University. Dr. Figueroa's research combines concepts and methods across disciplinary boundaries to examine interconnections between the social and behavioral determinants of health, with a particular focus on children’s energy-balance behaviors in underrepresented and low-income communities. To date, Dr. Figueroa has developed a comprehensive skill foundation in research methods, including training in a broad range of quantitative (i.e., advanced linear modeling, structural equation modeling, psychometrics) and qualitative methods (i.e., grounded theory, ethnography, qualitative GIS), and mixed-methods. Roger has received training and research funding support from the USDA, NIH, and from other institutional-level grant programs.

victor zhong

Victor Wenze Zhong, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. Victor is a nutritional epidemiologist by training. He has also received training in metabolomics, genomics, medical informatics, and “big data” in the previous 7 years. At Cornell, Victor will design a coherent program of interdisciplinary research spanning nutrition, epidemiology, omics, and informatics to help people prevent cardiometabolic diseases.

Academic focus: Understanding the etiology and progression of cardiometabolic diseases and identifying prevention and management strategies using nutritional, epidemiological, omics, and medical informatics approaches.
