Sri Lakshmi Sravani Devarakonda, a third-year grad student in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, has been selected as a recipient of the 2019-2020 Cornelia Ye Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award by the Center for Teaching Innovation.  The Cornelia Ye Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award honors two outstanding teaching assistants (TAs) who have clearly demonstrated dedication and excellence in their teaching responsibilities. Candidates for this award must have received excellent teaching evaluations, have a minimum of two semesters of TA experience at Cornell, and be currently enrolled on a full-time basis. Sri’s demonstrated excellence in teaching and her contributions to enhancing the undergraduate and graduate experience at Cornell University are exceptional and clearly merit this distinction.

As a student in molecular nutrition, Sri’s current research projects focus on investigating the interactions between host genetics, dietary intake, and gut microbes and their role in maintaining the host health. Sri is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist trained at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (Cleveland, OH). She earned her master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from Case Western Reserve University. Before that, she worked as a dietitian and consultant nutritionist in a tertiary care center in India. She started Cornell’s PhD program in nutritional sciences with a concentration in molecular nutrition and minors in genomics and computational genetics in the fall of 2017.

• Fall 2017 - “Methods in Nutrition” with Dr. Martha Field.
