Q:     What is the process for scheduling a visit to campus if I would like to meet with people in DEA?

A:     The recommended steps to follow are:

  1. If you are visiting as a prospective student, contact the Director of Graduate Studies(DGS), Jack Elliott, at jre15@cornell.edu or 607-255-9714 to set up a date and time to visit.
  2. Once you secure a date/time with DGS, check the DEA people directory to see it here are any other faculty/staff members you would like to meet with, and contact them for their availability on the chosen dates.
  3. Optional – schedule a walking tour of campus: http://www.cornell.edu/visiting/ithaca/walking_tours.cfm
  4. Make travel arrangements. A good web site for visiting Ithaca and Cornell is: https://www.dfa.cornell.edu/travel/ and the interactive campus map site.

Q:     What are transportation options for getting to Ithaca?

A:     There are several options. Tompkins County Airport is 10 minutes from campus and is served by several airlines. Syracuse airport is approximately 1 ¼ hour from Ithaca. From NYC, there is a Campus-to-Campus bus service. Amtrak also serves Syracuse. A good web site for finding options would be: http://www.cornell.edu/visiting/ithaca/visiting.cfm

Q:     If I plan to move to Ithaca, what’s a good strategy for finding housing?

A:     The Cornell Graduate School provides this information on housing. For on-campus housing see: http://www.campuslife.cornell.edu/campuslife/housing/gradhousing.cfm. For a searchable on-line listing of off-campus housing: options see: http://offcampushousing.cornell.edu/dos/cms/ocho/

Q:     Can you make suggestions for hotels/inns, etc.

A:     The Hilton Garden Inn (downtown), Statler Hotel (on campus), and the Courtyard by Marriott (near airport) all seem to be preferred, but this Cornell web site offers other options: http://www.campustravel.com/university/cornell/ - as does this Ithaca-based web site: http://www.visitithaca.com/lodging/.
