The Cornell Public Affairs Society (CPAS) is the peer-led governing organization for CIPA. The mission of the organization is to provide students opportunities to enhance their professional, interpersonal and leadership skills that will prepare them for successful careers in public service.
CPAS organizes a number of activities each year, including events for career development, community outreach and alumni networking. It also organizes orientation receptions, picnics, holiday celebrations and more.
All students are eligible to vote on officers for the organization. Officers are elected in November to take office in January and serve one year terms.
GPSA works with the university administration to improve the quality of life at the University. It sponsors social events open to all graduate and professional students; works with the administration on pay and benefits for graduate and professional students; supports campus programming through the allocation of funds; and addresses such topics as transportation, library services and international student concerns.
