Valentina Saltane, MPA '06, named CIPA Executive-In-Residence & spring colloquium speaker

Valentina Saltane, MPA ‘06, who currently works as a Senior Private Sector Development Specialist for the Doing Business project at the World Bank, will be the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs (CIPA) Executive-In-Residence for Spring 2020. 

Saltane will also serve as a CIPA Colloquium speaker on Thursday, February 13, at 5:00 pm in the Biotechnology Building, Room G-10.  Her talk, “Catalyzing Private Sector Growth” is open to the Cornell Master of Public Administration (MPA) community. 

The CIPA Colloquium is a public affairs speaker series that includes interactive speaker forums, multi-speaker panels, professional development workshops and roundtables designed to assist students in career development and networking opportunities.

Valentina Saltane joined the Doing Business project at the World Bank in 2011. Since becoming a Senior Private Sector Development Specialist in November 2016, she has been a member of the team in charge of reviewing Doing Business data.

Saltane has led the Resolving Insolvency, the Starting a Business and the Trading across Borders indicators. She has also co-authored three Access to Finance reports, two reports on Sweden’s Business Climate, Global Survey on Consumer Protection and Financial Literacy publications. 

Before joining the World Bank Group in 2007, Saltane held the position of research analyst at the Law and Economic Consulting Group (LECG). She has also worked for the World Resources Institute as a program coordinator.

Valentina Saltane earned a BA degree from Colby College in 2004 and later obtained her MPA from the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs at Cornell University in 2006.  More recently, she gave MPA students valuable tips about navigating a career through the World Bank in a 2016 alumna interview. She is fluent in Russian, Latvian, Spanish and is proficient in French.
