Quint Studer

After Successful Course and Lectures--Quint Studer Is Inaugural Webinar Speaker

Sloan was honored to have Quint Studer, the founder of one of the leading hospital advisory organizations in the country, the Studer Group, generously share his insights and newly released research in a custom webinar which was available to Sloan alumni, students and faculty.  This was the kick-off for a new Sloan Alumni Association initiative.

Previously, Quint graciously came to campus to speak at a Sloan Colloquium, and had one of his coaches, Julie O'Shaughnessy, teach a workshop on campus, and most recently, worked with Sloan leadership to develop a special course on driving quality and organizational improvement. He was joined by his colleague, nationally known physician leader and Mt Sinai Medical School faculty member Dr. Michael Harris. Dr. Harris, who is currently Chief of Surgery and Surgical Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey, drew from in his own experiences in discussing many of the Studer techniques with the students. Dr Harris is the author of a well-received book on practice management, and has worked with Quint for a number of years. An additional practitioner workshop leader for the course was Thomas Hambury, PhD, recently retired director of executive programs at the Johnson School and a former senior executive at the medical centers of the Universities of Cincinnati and Rochester.

In his course, Quint shared many of the techniques that have helped their clients score significantly higher on the Medicare mandated HCAHPS measurements, while Dr Harris brought to the course an important physician perspective on implementing Studer and other techniques. Quint also used an innovative technique to reach out to students after his time on campus-- recording a DVD of advice and responses to questions students posed on their exams. The Sloan Program wants to thank Quint for his generosity and for his long-standing support of healthcare management education.

Quint is the author of 6 books, including Business Week and Wall Street Journal best sellers: Hardwiring Excellence, and Results That Last. Quint is also the only healthcare leader ever selected as a "Master of Business" by Inc. Magazine, recognizing his proven techniques in driving organizational improvement. The Baldrige Award winning Studer Group provides advisory services to over 800 hospitals.
