Members of the Institute support its mission financially and by in-kind giving of services or professional expertise. All members are expected to contribute to the advancement of the Institute's mission, and to further the research, education, and technology transfer goals of the Institute. Members (or their representatives) are asked to participate in Institute programs as researchers, student mentors and advisors, and in other capacities such as serving as guest lecturers, tour coordinators, etc.
Levels of Membership
For the initial three years of the Institute, Cornell will invite corporations, organizations and professionals who have made substantial contributions (i.e., at least $100,000 in cash or in-kind contributions) in support of the mission of the Institute and the development of Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design to become Founding Members. The invitation will be at the discretion of the Institute Director with the endorsement of Chair of Fiber Science and Apparel Design (FSAD) and Dean of College of Human Ecology. Founding members will receive all of the membership benefits of Strategic Partners, without payment of membership dues, for up to four years. Thereafter, Founding Members may continue to participate in Institute at the membership level of their choice.
All benefits accorded to individual and corporate members, plus: Guidance on the use of contributions in excess of corporate level membership dues ($5,000) in accordance with Cornell's restricted gifts guidelines.
Minimum Annual Contribution $25,000
All benefits of Individual Membership, plus: Discounted rates on equipment use and other research costs. Discounts on applied or fundamental research contracts (discounts on research contracts will be limited to 15% of total costs for projects totaling $150K or less, maximum annual discount per partner is $22,500).
Minimum Annual contribution $5,000
Participation in regular Institute events and activities. Subscription to all publications.
Minimum Annual Contribution $1,000
($100 per year for up to five years for FSAD graduates)
Invitation to networking events with industry partners.
Potential to engage with research projects and outreach activities.
