The Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design (FSAD) at Cornell University is a small but active department that researches fiber science and apparel design. Cornell has the only Fiber Science & Apparel Design department in the Ivy League, and therefore attracts top faculty. The emphasis on apparel design and textiles as products and processes with meaning is the strength of the department. Its multidisciplinary approach builds on materials, design, biology, chemistry, engineering and social science concepts and methods.
