4-H Community Service CoverThis kit includes sample items and instructions for textile-related community service projects. Ideas include a child's smock, cloth books, wheelchair bags, lap robes and aprons. Most items require intermediate level sewing skills. Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) educators can borrow it from the Fiber Science & Apparel Design Lending Library.

Youth make research-based, age-appropriate recreational items for persons who have Alzheimer's Disease. Youth may donate the items or use the items to interact more comfortably with a relative or nursing home residents.

The 88-page Simple Gifts manual contains patterns and detailed instructions for 16 projects. These include sewn fabric items such as sensory vests and fleecy muffs; wooden items such as picture dominoes; and craft items such as message/communication magnets and stressballs.
