Youth make research-based, age-appropriate recreational items for persons who have Alzheimer's Disease. Youth may donate the items or use the items to interact more comfortably with a relative or nursing home residents. The 88-page Simple Gifts manual contains patterns and detailed instructions for 16 projects. These include sewn fabric items such as sensory vests and fleecy muffs; wooden items such as picture dominoes; and craft items such as message/communication magnets and stressballs. Order the publication from Fiber Science & Apparel Design. Send a check for $4.00 per copy, made payable to Cornell University, to Charlotte Coffman, MVR 239, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, 14853-4401.
