Curriculum Vitae

Biographical Statement:
I am a fifth-year economics Ph.D. student at Cornell University.  My main areas of interest are health economics, economic inequality, and labor economics.

More information about my teaching and research, including paper abstracts and links to working papers, can be found at my personal website

Job Market paper:
The Impact of Changing Earnings Distributions and Household Characteristics on US Income Inequality Trends since 1967 [Working Paper]

My committee members are Richard Burkhauser (Chair), John Cawley, and Donald Kenkel.

Current Research Activities:
My main areas of research focuses on income inequality in the United States.  I am currently exploring the extent to which demographic trends have contributed to rising household income inequality in the United State.  I also have worked extensively on understanding the extent to which observed changes in household income inequality are due to the top 1% of the income distribution and, by extension, how Census procedures to protect the confidentiality of high earners impact our ability to capture the actual trends in inequality.

I also have a strong interest in health economics and have several projects intersecting my interests in health and inequality.  For example, I am currently studying how proposed changes in the taxation of health benefits would impact inequality in the United States.  I also am researching the income-health gradient and attempting to determine the extent to which there is a causal relationship from higher income to better health.
