The Department of Textiles and Apparel has a broad outreach effort built on its research base. Three of our programs relate directly to textiles and apparel.
Apparel Industry Outreach seeks to provide the apparel industry in New York State with educational opportunities about mass customization, skill standards for high performance manufacturing, and topics related to CAD-CAM.
The Youth Program develops and implements textile-related programs for youth. The programs emphasize science exploration, skill building, and community service.
The Personal Pesticide Protection program identifies ways to use personal protective equipment to reduce human exposure to pesticides and provides this information to appropriate audiences.
The fourth program, Water Quality, seeks to educate individuals, families, and communities about drinking water quality, private water supplies, onsite wastewater systems, home water treatment, and household chemicals.
