Research interests: effects of policy concerning early childhood education, such as age at which children can enroll in kindergarten or the provision of universal pre-kindergarten education, on outcomes in school, such as test scores and school performance. I am considering how living arrangements in college affect education outcomes. This project specifically uses Cornell data to contrast living in 'living/learning' residence halls with other types of living arrangements.

Research interests: the effects of education, health, and welfare policies on the behavior and well-being of vulnerable populations. His current resarch ranges from investigating the impact of bilingual education programs on the educational and economic outcomes of the children of immigrants to a study of whether and how schools strategically respond to incentives in federal subsidy programs to secure increased funding. In other efforts, he is examining the effects of increased staffing levels on patient outcomes in nursing homes, and the extent of monopsony power inthe labor market for nurses
