HomeWelcome to the website of the Emotion & Cognition Laboratory. We are located in the Department of Human Development at Cornell University. Broadly speaking, we seek to understand the relationship between thinking and feeling – that is, emotion and cognition. We study memory for emotional material, the role of emotion in attention and decision making, and the changes in these phenomena in later life. With both behavioral designs and neuroimaging (using fMRI), our projects provide an understanding of changes in emotion-cognition interactions across the life span. Our ultimate hope is to discover practical means by which the subjective and objective quality of life can be enhanced across the life span.
