Billboard is available from the
National Breastfeeding Campaign. It was part of a national campaign that was evaluated and proven effective in changing attitudes towards breastfeeding. Five sites were selected that provided visibility in higher population areas of Herkimer County. The January time frame was chosen based on lowest cost for the year as well as the possibility of additional time at no charge if the locations were not sold for other billboards. There were four sites in January and five sites in February. Some billboards remained in sites longer into March if the location had not been purchased.
In 2008, the following locations featured "Babies were born to be breastfed" billboards:
- Madison County (3 billboards):
- Rt. 5 in Canastota 1.6 miles west of Junction of Rt. 13
- Rt. 20 about 0.3 miles east of Bouckville
- Rt. 12B: .5 miles south of Hamilton
- Otsego County (3 billboards):
- Rt. 28 south of Oneonta facing north on east side
- Rt.23 south side Davenport Center facing east
- Rt.7 south of Oneonta facing south on west side
- Herkimer County: (4 billboards):
- Rt. 5S south of Main Street Underpass in Frankfort
- Rt. 5 two miles east of Little Falls
- Rt. 5 near Caroline Street across from Wal-Mart
- Rt. 28 3.5 miles south of Mohawk
