DNS Academic Overview
The Division of Nutritional Sciences is one of the world’s premier academic programs devoted to the study of human nutrition. The division’s areas of specialization include malnutrition and health issues in developing countries, the role of diet in reducing the risk of disease, obesity and the biochemical underpinnings of nutrition at the celluar level.
In addition, we focus on the promotion of health and prevention of disease through diet in communities. In our graduate and undergraduate programs, coursework in biology, chemistry, the humanities, social sciences and nutritional sciences provide a solid foundation. Our focus is to encourage students to critically interpret research from the laboratory and the field and apply it to societal issues, government policy and people’s everyday lives.
