Details on housing, healthcare, and tuition are
below. If you have questions, please contact us.
Housing
The de Hirsch
Residence with 24 hour security is located in the 92nd Street Y on the
Upper East Side of Manhattan, one of its premier neighborhoods. As an
Urban Semester Program participant you are housed in one of 24 reserved
dormitory spaces, fully furnished double rooms with shared bathrooms
and weekly maid service. A kitchen and laundry room is located on each
floor. You are a mere 3 blocks from Central Park and the near-by famous
Museum Mile in addition to many other cultural institutions only
available in New York City. Residents have access to the Y's
Buttenweiser Library with computers and internet access, free Wi-Fi
throughout the building, and reduced or free admission to many of the
Y's concerts and lectures. A café is located in the building, while
variously priced restaurants are found nearby.
A double room is $4,800
per person for the Fall 2009 semester. Spring 2010 pricing has not been
set. Singles may be available for an additional cost. Because of the
scarcity of housing, we require a $300 non-refundable housing deposit
which will be applied to the cost.
We offer housing for the Fall and
Spring semesters only. We ask our Summer session students to locate
their own housing.
Healthcare
Students must provide proof of health care
coverage (health insurance) for their semester in New York City. Please
see Gannett Health Center for health care coverage information and
health care benefits for Cornell University students not in Ithaca.
Students may choose their own family health care coverage for the Urban
Semester program period.

their needs with financial aid personnel on campus the semester before
participating in the Urban Semester.
