Personal Counseling

 
 

Personal counseling, including exploration of any problem or concern of a personal nature, is available to all students. Discussions are completely confidential.

Appointments can be made in 172 MVR or by calling (607) 255-2532.

Specifically, you might want to discuss:

  • academic planning and scheduling
  • work load and time management
  • policies related to requirements and deadlines
  • life plans
  • general petitions
  • study abroad
  • academic difficulties and support services
  • medical or family problems
  • concerns about classes
  • in-absentia study
  • leaves of absence
  • feelings of depression or anxiety
  • student life in Human Ecology and Cornell

For more in-depth personal counseling, contact CAPS, the Counseling and Psychological Services unit at Gannett Health Services, (607)255-5155. CAPS is open 24/7. Counselors provide crisis intervention, brief counseling, psychiatric care, outreach, and referral services.

In addition to traditional clinical settings at Gannett, CAPS provides walk-in hours and discussion groups at various sites across campus. Self-assessment tools are available for suicide, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, alcohol use, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders.
