It is never too early to begin planning for life after Cornell – in fact, choosing to attend college is a career choice! Our Career Development Center, career counselors and student assistants are available to all College of Human Ecology students from their first day on campus.

Our pre-professional education provides students with a skill set that will serve them throughout their lives and prepares them to successfully follow their future career paths, wherever they might lead.

Current students can take advantage of career counseling and advising resources as soon as they matriculate and continue to enjoy the benefits of the college's services long after they leave campus. The Career Development Center houses career planning, job search, and graduate school print and internet resources, as well as the expertise of professional advisers in student services. The professional staff provides counselling and guidance in the graduate and professional school processes and counsels students searching for their academic niche. Student career assistants supplement the work of professional staff by assisting undergraduates researching career options, narrowing their job searches, and providing resume writing advice and practice interviews.

Due to a very adaptable curriculum and easy access to Cornell's broad resources, Human Ecology students pursue a wide variety of careers. About 40% of our graduates go on to earn advanced degrees. Of those, 30 percent go on to medical school, 15 to 20 percent attend law school, and 50% earn an MBA, MSW, MPH, or PhD. Those who have gone directly to the world of work include Wall Street financiers, software designers, business consultants, and managers.
