Biographical Statement:
Michael Lovenheim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management. His research is in public finance and labor economics, particularly focusing on the economics of education and issues in local taxation and regulation. His recent papers consider the role of housing wealth in the college enrollment decision, the effect of teachers' unions on K-12 educational resources, changes in the likelihood and length of time it takes students to obtain an undergraduate degree, and the effect of consumer avoidance of cross-state cigarette and alcohol taxes and regulation on health outcomes. Lovenheim received his PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan in 2007 and joined PAM in 2009 after two years as a Searle Freedom Trust Post-doctoral Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. |
