Biographical Statement:

Fran Kozen is an Extension Associate and Associate Director of the Cornell Institute for Fashion and Fiber Innovation (CIFFI).  She facilitates industry collaborations with faculty and students and maintains close ties with FSAD alumni working in the fashion industry. Ms. Kozen has taught numerous textile and fashion management courses in the FSAD department, particularly Product Quality Assessment.  She organizes and leads an annual Study Tour to New York to provide opportunity for FSAD students to observe first-hand a wide array of functions within the fashion industry and to network with alumni.  Ms. Kozen has engaged in outreach to the apparel industry, to youth, and to county CCE agents.  Prior to coming to Cornell, Ms. Kozen conducted consumer behavior and market research for both apparel and textiles.

 
Teaching and Advising Statement:

I encourage students to consider the applicability of fiber, fabric, finish and apparel function and performance knowledge throughout the fashion industry supply chain.  In that context, I foster group problem-solving and require writing and presentations that would be appropriate for management.    

 
Current Research Activities:

Project Manager  for  the Style Engineers NSF-supported project completed in 2016.

Liaison to outside groups implementing  the Style Engineers curriculum, including Kentucky 4-H, New Mexico 4-H, and the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse.   

 
Current Public Engagement Activities:

Associate Director of the Cornell Institute of Fashion and Fiber Innovation (CIFFI), working to facilitiate communications and collaborations among industry, alumni, and faculty and students at Cornell. 

Facilitate campus visits and school outreach for Career Exploration programs with area school districts, on request.
