Visiting the College
Human Ecology is a thriving intellectual community on a dynamic, beautiful, and engaging campus. We invite prospective undergraduate applicants and their families to visit to fully appreciate the possibilities the college offers. In addition to campus tours and university information sessions, the College of Human Ecology offers a number of ways for you to get to know us.
We hope you will consider how you would use a Human Ecology education as a vehicle for your goals as you plan your visit.
PROSPECTIVE FIRST YEAR APPLICANTS are strongly encouraged to attend a Human Ecology Information Session hosted by one of our Admissions Counselors. Share your academic interests with the group and learn more about the college, its programs and opportunities, and the admissions process. Individual appointments are not offered to prospective first-year applicants. Our sessions can last for 90 minutes.
Human Ecology Student Ambassadors are often available for questions before sessions during the fall semester.
Our information sessions are offered on most Mondays and Fridays from June through October, along with select Saturdays in October. Review the schedule and register for a session.
All College of Human Ecology sessions originate from 170 Martha Van Rensselaer Hall. Our office is closed and no information sessions are offered during Cornell University breaks and observed national holidays.
PROSPECTIVE EXTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICANTS are strongly encouraged to contact our Admissions Office (607.255.5471) to make a phone or in-person appointment with an Admissions Counselor to discuss your interests, our required preparatory coursework (PDF), and transfer planning. Appointments should be scheduled a semester or two prior to submitting an application. Have a copy of your transcript available for a more purposeful appointment. No same day appointments are scheduled.
External transfers are also invited to attend our annual Transfer Day event.
PROSPECTIVE INTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICANTS (currently enrolled Cornell University undergraduates in another undergraduate unit) are required to meet with an Admissions Counselor in the College of Human Ecology Office of Admissions to discuss their
interest in the college and required coursework prior to submitting an
application. Call 607-255-5471 or visit 170 Martha Van Rensselaer Hall to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, carefully review our internal transfer information, including course requirements.
CONTACTING FACULTY is discouraged, unless you are interested in our design majors. Those interested in Design and Environmental Analysis should email Tracey Sherwood to schedule an appointment; those interested in Fashion Design and Management should call 607-255-3196 to schedule an appointment. The College of Human Ecology Admissions Office offers the best context for program/major, college, and admissions information regardless of your major of interest.
