Visiting the College

Human Ecology is a thriving intellectual community in a beautiful, natural setting. We invite prospective undergraduate applicants and their families to visit to fully appreciate the possibilities the college offers.

Refer to the Cornell Admissions website for more information about visiting campus, being mindful of holidays, student breaks, and study and final exam periods when making arrangements.

Our Transfer Day program for those interested in transferring to the College of Human Ecology from 2 or 4 year institutions is scheduled for Friday, November 6. Registration is required. Space is limited. This event is not for current Cornell University students who are interested in internally transferring (see below for more information).

PROSPECTIVE FIRST YEAR APPLICANTS are strongly encouraged to attend a Human Ecology Information Session. Sessions are hosted by Admissions Counselors who discuss the college, its programs and opportunities, and the admissions process. Individual appointments are not offered to prospective first-year applicants.

Please be prepared to be an engaged participant, as you will be asked to share a bit about yourself, your academic and extracurricular interests, and your interest in the College of Human Ecology.

Human Ecology Ambassadors are often available for questions before sessions during fall semester.

Our 2015 information session schedule is as follows. All College of Human Ecology sessions originate from 170 Martha Van Rensselaer Hall. Our office is closed and no information sessions are offered during Cornell University breaks and observed national holidays

June 2015 - October 2015
No sessions are offered on July 3, August 21, August 24, September 7, or September 18
Mondays and Fridays at 10:30a.m. and 1:00p.m.

PROSPECTIVE EXTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICANTS are strongly encouraged to contact our Admissions Office (607.255.5471) to make a phone or in-person appointment with an Admissions Counselor to discuss your interests and our required preparatory coursework (PDF). Appointments should be scheduled a semester or two prior to submitting an application. Bring a copy of your transcript for a more purposeful appointment. No same day appointments are scheduled.

We also invite external transfers to attend our annual Transfer Day event to learn more about our programs and the admissions process.

PROSPECTIVE INTERNAL TRANSFER APPLICANTS (currently enrolled Cornell University undergraduates in another undergraduate unit) are required to meet with an Admissions Counselor in the College of Human Ecology Office of Admissions to discuss their interest in the college prior to submitting an application. Call 607-255-5471 or visit 170 Martha Van Rensselaer Hall to schedule an appointment.

CONTACTING FACULTY is discouraged, unless you are interested in the Fashion Design and Management major, in which case you can call 607-255-3196 to make an appointment. The College of Human Ecology Admissions Office offers the best context for program/major, college, and admissions information regardless of your major of interest.
