Urban summer students take the subway to Brooklyn for lectures and site visits

Seminars

All students will participate in round-table discussions based on weekly experiences in the field. You will participate in weekly seminars that allow you to reflect on your experiences and listen to the experiences of your peers. These seminars provide the context to increase your leadership skills, exercise your communication skills, identify your own voice, and articulate your perspective and learning in a neutral and non-judgmental environment. You will actively engage in challenging your colleagues' ideas and they will challenge yours. The seminars emphasize self-directed learning; learning in context; reflective learning; and the practice of positive, fruitful, and mutually beneficial approaches of communicating in the context of multicultural voices and perspectives. As a group, you will produce new knowledge and appreciate your role as a knowledge producer.

Your other experiential coursework includes internships or Pre-Med Rotations and Research, seminars and community service.
